Burp Cloths and Crib Sheets

I think I have sewed as much as I am going to before the baby comes. Here are the burp cloths and crib sheet!

This was a simple project, inspired by this tutorial!! I will probably make more sheets in the future.

The only sewing involved is making the corners, and attaching the elastic around the raw edges! Quick and easy.

"Pepper the puppy" was Sean's as a boy! Being parents with him is awesome. :) We love it.

Making a (hospital) list.... checking it twice

Since the last time I wrote about baby preparations, I have made some progress! We have begun our Christmas shopping (doing it online is AWESOME, why have I never done it before??), finished the burp cloths (separate post coming), and retrieved and set up the changing table.  Here's the current setup in our room...

Cosleeper: we will scoot it up next to the bed when the time comes. Bouncer: ready to go.  Toddler: hiding in the curtains. :)

Exercise ball: needing to be inflated! Hospital bag: packed with essentials, just need to throw in the last few toiletries.

Changing table: set up and ready! Also doubles as a jungle gym...

SLO Children's Museum!

A couple weeks ago, we "cashed in" a gift certificate from Grammy and Papa J (my parents) for a trip to the  Children's Museum in San Luis Obispo! It was a blast! There were lots of neat activities for Caleb (and, ahem, the big kids) on three different floors, and outside.

It was a really neat place that I think we'd enjoy visiting again. We topped off the morning with lunch together at New Frontiers, a "natural marketplace" with yummy healthy food and a deli/soup/salad bar. We are looking forward to more Grammy/Papa outings in the future. It's a blessing to be living in the same town for a season and we want to capitalize on it!

38 1/2 weeks!

Sean wanted to take a picture of us last night, "since you'll be in labor tomorrow." He keeps saying stuff like that and it takes me a second every time. What??!! How do you know?? Oh. You're kidding. Mostly. :) He's convinced Chloe's arrival is imminent! We happened to get a picture of the two of us the night before Caleb was born (the night my parents arrived in Colorado!), so we're hoping to replicate that, but of course labor is hard to predict before it actually arrives. I've been having a fair amount of discomfort and "pressure" as the baby's head pushes on my cervix and my hips loosen up. I've also been sleeping in a lighter state lately, probably in preparation for frequent wakings to come. All those indications mean she's probably coming soon! I'm grateful we live about eight minutes from the hospital.... instead of a 45-minute trip just to the gate at Fort Carson, where Caleb was born. (We also don't have to worry about snow or ice on the way there this time, which is nice.) It will be interesting to see how L&D #2 goes. I'm trying not to have firm expectations, just hoping to stay relaxed and confident. People keep saying the second/succeeding labors are much faster than the first one, but I also know every labor is different and complications are always possible. We shall see. God is sovereign and good. My goal is to trust Him and be a good laborer. :)
